Atom 3.5 ECU
Atom 3.5 ECU
My friend has a 2014 Atom 3.5 310 that he wants more power in. I'm thinking charge cooler and e85 fuel would be enough for an additional 80hp.
What kind of ECU is the Atom 3.5 running?
Is the intake manifold the old Jackson Racing manifold with a big cover in the bottom of the manifold?
Thanks
Jacob

Re: Atom 3.5 ECU
What you are describing is effectively converting this Atom 3.5 310 to an Atom 3.5R - which adds the charge cooler (plus other bits and pieces) and nominally gives approximately +/- 350bhp (my own 3.5R returns 362.4bhp using 100 octane Eko racing fuel on the rolling road)
Is your friend intending to use his Atom primarily as a track car or as a road car?
If he primarily intends to use it on track there would be no problem using E85 (but he should budget on using circa 30%-35% more fuel than if using petrol to drive the same distance) additionally he should also carefully check any rubber components (pipes) in the fuel system as ethanol has a habit of degrading rubber!
If he is intending to use it primarily on the public roads he is likely to have a very interesting conversation with his insurance company who treat using Ethanol based fuels as a significant performance modification and heavily load the premium as a result!
FWIW - Generally most well maintained Atoms really don't need any more power for use on the public roads - however if it it is intended to be a track biased car then go for it!!

Re: Atom 3.5 ECU
It's registered but only used for track days.
Is Ariel using OEM Honda ECU with Hondata Flashpro or an aftermarket ECU?

Re: Atom 3.5 ECU
Hi, I've always seen it refered to as a Hondata ECU. I don't believe as standard it's the Pro version, as I believe that was an option that allowed you to connect to, and perhaps change maps etc... the standard car didn't have that.

Hondata k100. Its not tuneable. If you want to tune it you'll need to change it to the hondata k-Pro.
