Less effciency, (not by much, but it is next to the engine coolant radiator) but unchanged looks as you say.

This engine will have 20% more displacement, and it revs significantly higher. It also runs different pistons so the compression can be adjusted along with different cams. The head has been lightly worked, and I would expect the injectors upgraded. It is obviously going to be mapped to suit. I fully expect it to get more than just 20% more power (which would be circa 360bhp), mainly due to the higher rpm it can now safely sustain.

IF the charger, injectors, head, inlet and exhaust can keep up at max flow rates required its going to be running ~15% higher max rpms so potentially 15% more power. That could be bumping 400bhp IF it all goes perfectly. There will obviously be restrictions somewhere, but I think 360 is going to be surpassed easily. Time will tell. Exciting times :)

Will follow this build! Lots of high quality work, looks like it's getting worked on in a hospital it's so clean.

What are the supercharger details? I have an HPD block in my Atom which is a similar K24/K20 build by Honda/RealTime for the Honda Touring Car. Will add boost at the end of the racing season. I'm guessing I'll be ~450hp and you should get something similar unless you are boosting very little.

What was the idea behind closing the deck? I've thought about it but it's a tricky proposition. Technically you might get higher combustion temperatures and make less power though I'm sure you'll get a better head seal.

It started life as a 245 N/A
Two years later had a factory fitted supercharger (Jackson) I think
Now just need a change 😁.

As to closing the block this is what Mike the man who built the engine has said,

Cylinder strength. Prevents the cylinder cracking with boost applications. Your probably going to be told by some “internet experts” you didn’t need that done.
But we do all of our boosted engines with a closed deck for reliability and future proofing the engine. Effectively you could put the biggest supercharger for the k-series engine and the engine will be fine to handle it.
The way I see it is it’s silly not to do the closed deck on boosted applications as it’s only £650 in the grand scheme of things it’s not much to give the engine that extra strength where it may be required. Also because the 2.4 is taller than the 2.0 it’s slightly weaker anyway. Another reason for belts and braces approach. 8)

That's very useful! I was trying to gauge the strength of open deck blocks by seeing how much power OEMs run on open decks. Found that the Ford Focus RS and Honda Type R run open deck despite running 23+ psi each. The latest AMG A45 is using a closed deck at 30.5 psi. I guess we don't see the combustion pressures given other differences such as compression ratios, though all three of these are low compression engines. If OEMs are any indication for reliability somewhere between 350hp and 416hp a 4 cylinder will benefit from closing the deck. AMG took the cooling penalty to increase rigidity so maybe that's the best indication.

Closing the deck is not the only option. Sleeving the block is the more common way to increase sleeve strength. Then there are the copper o rings for head seal as well.

I thought a closed deck block was pretty standard on the boosted applications. My buddy owns a subi shop and he does closed deck with all his turbo motors unless they are running like 8 psi

I believe the Honda K even in open deck form is really stout. While you may have to reinforce Subaru engines the same line of thinking might not apply to Honda. Most of the top notch sleeve manufacturers I've seen recommend the open deck up to 30psi+ and the closed deck version of their sleeves for drag or 40psi+. Obviously you should run at 87mm bore to reach that and not overbore.
