A ride for a disabled young Atom fan please?

Post by GraemeW » Wed May 08, 2019 9:43 am

Hi all Atom owners,

I have received a request through Facebook, from a Mum who has two sons with life threatening & life limiting disorders, and attend respite at Naomi House and Jacks place hospice for children.

https://www.naomihouse.org.uk/?gclid=EA ... gKKc_D_BwE

She has asked if any owners would be willing to drive one of her sons (15) in an Atom to his school prom on Friday 14 June. About half an hour of your time. He is an avid Atom fan, having already been driven in one at the Supercar charity event at Rockingham last year. I have a picture of him there in an Atom. Looks like Chris's car Cjg62 .

She is not looking for a freebie and is willing to pay for it or make a donation to a charity of your choice. She is based in Fareham near Portsmouth on the south coast, and the prom is there too. Are there any owners in Fareham or near there who would be willing to make this young lads day on the 14th June? Please let me know.

Many thanks.

GREAT idea Graeme :tu:

Sadly my car will be sold by then, or at least might. Clearly i don't want to risk letting anyone down so i can't commit.

Sure one of the other members will be happy to help. :)
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.

Thanks Peter. I have told her not to worry, as I will do it if we can't find any local owners. Im about 40 miles away. Her son has been pleading with her about this for ages. The only thing that might jeopardise it is if its raining. The atom and I won't mind, but a Prom outfit will not go with the rain

Graeme,

Like many others I'm sure, I would gladly do it, but unfortunately I'm in France, whoever does it be prepared for the most attention you'll ever receive, I did it years ago and it was a lot of fun. I'm booked to do it again, f'ing miles away on 5th July.

The supercar event is at Goodwood this year, Jun 1st, and is much closer to them than Rockingham last year.

I'm too far away to do the prom, but hopefully someone can do it.

I can do it, in a Nomad, if that's of interest to him.

Well the rain finally buggered off and I managed to get Marshall to his prom via a 30 mile, not exactly sedate, detour! He had an absolute blast and arrived to a massive cheer and some serious kudos points with his mates.

It's always good to get out and do these things if you can. The family were lovely but clearly having a tough time of it, given mum has just been diagnosed with cancer too so I think it did everyone the world of good for us to be there.

Anyway, just thought you'd want a photo update.

Great stuff! I offered to take my daughter to her prom. next week in my Atom. She has said it would be far too embarrassing. I wish I had had boys...

Ditto. My daughter wanted nothing to do with it. I guess a long dress and your hair don’t go well with an Atom

So have taken boys instead to the prom
