12v cigarette lighter stopped working.

Hi guys,

Went to plug my phone charger into my 12v feed last week, and it's not working.

I tried the charger in the family car to see if was that, but it still works fine.

I spoke to the factory, and Steve ran through the fuse that operates it, and after fitting the spare it's not that either(although the original still looked ok)

Anyone had this issue? And how did you sort it?

I've got one that you have to push the plug in and put a bit of duck tape on the side because it keeps popping out and then don't make contact properly

Have you got a multimeter Sven? Guessing it's a poor contact, maybe the pin has pushed back? Otherwise check the 0v to the battery negative. Then the battery negative to the positive in the plug. I doubt it's the loom tbh.

Where is yours located? Is it between the shoulders, between the seats, under the dash or in the 'boot'? And is it the BMW one or a standard one?

I'm betting that it's just a loose wire somewhere. Even though the new Atoms don't rattle as much as the old ones, they still put a lot of stress on any connection.

All sorted.

One of the metal connections inside the housing tube had broken. Tom helped find it for me, and soldered it back.

The fuses are all shown in the handbooks for the 2, 3 & 3.5 which are all available here https://www.ariel.club/forum/viewtopic. ... ks#p302360

On the 3, the auxillary [sic] fuse is D9 with a 20A fuse. There is also a spare fuse B9 with a 10A fuse.

My handbook doesn't refer to the cigarette socket or external 12v feed in the handbook fuse page.
I do have:

15amp Auxiliary
20amp Auxiliary 12v feed

Hopefully it's one of those.
