Atom 4 - Spec and Discussion
Re: Atom 4
Interesting to see the Carbon discs. Braking has always been epic in an Atom, so I wonder how these compare to the AP 2 piece jobbies?

Re: Atom 4
What is this colour chassis called?
Re: Atom 4
battleship grey
Re: Atom 4
I think it is the titanium color frame
Re: Atom 4
Just had a look and your right mate! Reversing cam and timing are not too bad. Its the brake pressure on the video that is the big cost.
My logic is as its electrical stuff it could be added later without too much issue, plus its not going to help me go faster or enjoy the road. It can wait.
There are also some quite effective track day lap timing apps for smart phones these days. I have used them in the past.
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.

No Phil. Its called "unfinished" / "undercoat"!

Re: Atom 4
And there was me thinking you were not allowed to time your laps on a track day. It invalidates insurance and track days are supposed to be fun, not a racePeter255 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 8:34 amJust had a look and your right mate! Reversing cam and timing are not too bad. Re: Atom 4
You are correct Mark. I am not bothered about lap times, its not the point. I have tested a couple of track performance apps tho. Quite interesting the data you can get.markwetherall wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 9:25 am

The yellow and grey car in the Goodwood pics looks pretty good. Looking forward to seeing more variations.
Is that the 350 demo car?

GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.
Re: Atom 4
Think so. Colors match with the spec I read at the factory ages a go.robfitz wrote:The yellow and grey car in the Goodwood pics looks pretty good. Looking forward to seeing more variations.

Re: Atom 4
Thx for sharing the pics.
When I'm looking at the new nose cone, I wonder how the engine should stay to be cool.
Even today it's difficult to keep the temperature in the right range with a lot of tricks and modifications.
About the carbon-ceramic brake disk.
Keep in mind, if you have a ride of the track into the gravel bed your carbon-ceramic brake disk are ready for the garbage bin, if the disk has the slightest damage. The same if the road have a lot of splits stones on top - like the French guys like to repair their roads in this way.
They only function properly when they are really hot - but then brutally. The dosing capability is not as good as with steel discs.
Your wheel rims will be always clean.

I suspect it's drawing the air in head on, like the Nomad does... instead of the side channels. Will it be enough? I suspect so.Curves Junkie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:14 pm When I'm looking at the new nose cone, I wonder how the engine should stay to be cool.

Re: Atom 4
There’s a firm at the FOS flogging ceramics for the A4 (they have a demo with them on). I think they’re called Midland or summat?
Anyway I think the dude said they save 2.9kg in unsprung weight. Didn’t ask about cost.

Re: Atom 4
Do you talk about that?
. .
If so, look that little "window" at the AA4:
. .
I drive a AA3 and in the past at serien trim the temperatur rise up to 104°C when fast driving up a alpine pass or driving in summer through a city. After modifications at the nose cone and built-in a oilcooler the temperatur limit is now 95°C. BUT my "window" is much, much bigger as the AA4 is.
I'm afraid it won't be enough.
