Re: Atom 4
I think we just trust the factory,
I have never had any problems they didn’t solve for me. If you have cooling problems, why not mount the hot country radiator, I know of several ariels with this mounted and they run perfectly normal temps.
I spoke to Tom and asked about the high performance radiator, he told me it was necesarry if I was to live in a very hot climate and I did not need it, why should I not trust on the judgement of the guys building it...and if it becomes a problem, they have the upgrade laying around.
So thats why I’m not worried

Re: Atom 4
Hej guys, I had NEVER wrote that I don't trust the factory or Henry.
That is an misrepresentation of you.
I have only expressed concern and physics is and remains physics and that has nothing to do with mistrust.
The same at me. Ariel factory help me and solve it always if I need help - in the past. Maybe not anymore in the future.speedmachine wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:36 pm I have never had any problems they didn’t solve for me.
Do you read my posts really and can remember about it a few days later?speedmachine wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:36 pm If you have cooling problems, why not mount the hot country radiator, I know of several ariels with this mounted and they run perfectly normal temps.

If yes, you know that I have no cooling problems with my AA3 anymore. The engine runs between 83-85°C and when firing up to 90°C.

All fine guys.
Re: Atom 4
I have the race spec car with mechanical water pump and no thermostat. Taping up the nosecone like you are doing here is actually THE procedure for optimizing cooling with this setup. I tape up the side entirely on cold days. The cooling is so good with the 4 port head that I nearly always run at least some tape just to get it up to temp. My experience, and the whole point of doing it. is that taping up the sides actually decreases cooling performance. It is also my experience that the A3 race car cooling system is more than enough even for 300hp as long as you have a 4 exhaust port engine. It is also good enough for 230hp single exhaust port engine.Curves Junkie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:22 pm
The outflow is the real problem too. The air duct raises up the airflow speed but after passing the radiator the hot air accumulates there at the metal wall before the steering rack. My feet were cooked at the test today. At the moment I have no idea, maybe a air baffle behind the radiator or a aero trick at the side of the nose cone. You can do a test with your old car now.

I'm really stunned. There are so many people here who are technically adept and everyone is silent here.
According to the motto: "Trust me its magic."
I don't believe taping up the nose cone is the same as the A4 duct. Since someone said the central opening is larger on the A4, and since the sides are not shaped the same behind the cardbord on A3, it's going to be a different setup altogether.
As far as outflow, we have to also consider the fan. If the fan is now mounted on the back it's likely the outflow is more restricted at speed than in an A3.
Re: Atom 4
Says it in the official announcement article on ariels website from 11/07/2018.Curves Junkie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:22 pmSource please.
At the German Importer website there is no information about that and @HenryJS never confirm this here.
I'll be surprised, but very pleased and happy, if we could buy the AA4 in all countrys in the EU.
I also wrote to the German importer in July last year when trying to put down a deposit for the car and he told me Ariel have only one car, that it's a prototype and I would only be able to put down a deposit in April 2019. Wrote to Tom the next day and he accepted the deposit like a normal business person would.
The car will also be the first Ariel vehicle to undergo full European Small Series Type Approval (ESSTA) and ADR (Australian Design Rules) testing, to enable Atom 4 to be sold throughout Europe and Australasia with a Certificate of Conformity from 2019. Said Tom Siebert, Director of Ariel Motor Company: ‘Though we have had a small European presence over the years, there is an enormous demand for our vehicles in this market and elsewhere in the world.

...dann wünsche ich dir schon mal viel Spaß mit der Zulassung
Queck ist "speziell" aber er wird bestimmt seine Gründe haben, warum er den AA4 nicht verkauft...

... then I wish you a lot of fun with the approval
Queck is "special" but he will surely have his reasons why he does not sell the AA4 ...

Re: Atom 4
He's still not selling it? I'm not from Germany but just wanted to get in line which was 2 years at the time of deposit. By the time I get mine there should be some EU delivered ones and we will see how much hassle there is with reg.
Re: Atom 4
Good news, Peter. Whilst at the factory last week I took a pic of your car.

Re: Atom 4
Sorry, my mistake, thought you were from Germany. I did not speak to him, but the announcement on his site says:
NEW ATOM 4
DUE TO UNSOLVED NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN ENGLAND AND THE EU, WE CAN NOT GIVE A BINDING STATEMENT ABOUT IMPORTS AND HOMOLOGATION OF THE ATOM 4!!!!!
Re: Atom 4
No. Its optional locking fuel cap for Atom 4. It looks like the locking fuel cap for the Atom 3 or Nomad but its twice the price.
And thanks Hedge. You almost took a close up picture of my nuts ... luckily only showing bolts.
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.
Re: Atom 4
dreamscape I think this is regarding Brexit. Worst case we have to pay import duties on cars, that's currently 10% of the purchase price which is not enough for me to not be putting a deposit down.
Ariel have said they will be pursuing the homologation in 2019 so I reckon by mid 2020 we should have an answer whether the car will be able to be registered in the EU.
