Cyprus must be the best place on earth for the Atom!!! I used to have a couple of properties in Mandriva, just outside of Paphos.
The weather and roads..... I bet you put a few miles on the R every year??!!!

It is just back on the road (2nd May) after a winter hibernating in the Limassol Motor Museum!
- it has been the wettest and coldest winter since I have been in Cyprus with 3 refills of LPG (1000kg tank) for the central heating - I have never before used more than 1.5 tank fulls during any previous winter.
Cyprus is brilliant for an Atom with fantastic drives up in the Troodos mountains and I normally do 2500 - 3000 miles a year.
Below is a recent photo of the its backside - you can see the Zircotec black ceramicised exhaust!

Troodoos Mountains in an Atom!!! Damn, that just sounds perfect
I wonder how much it would cost for me to ship mine over for a week :-)
I love driving out there, and the people are lovely too.

Very nice looking Atom autobackup.
What colour chassis is that? gun metal gloss?

Simon
The frame colour is the latest Gunmetal metallic (2018)
- when it went back to the Ariel factory last year to be rebuilt (see my 'Unfortunate Incident' thread elsewhere in this forum) it was completely stripped back to the frame which was then sent back to the frame builders to be expertly repaired, fully paint stripped and upgraded to the 15% stiffer 3.5R spec frame and then re-powder coated in the new Gunmetal - it looks absolutely lovely.
During the rebuild everything , including all the engine & hydraulic hoses, even partially mechanically worn (bar the engine & gearbox) was replaced, the cooling was also significantly upgraded by retro-fitting the larger Atom V8 radiator and oversize variable speed electric fan for greater cooling efficiency in the Cyprus summer - plus the original analogue dash was replaced with the latest digital version.
The suspension was also upgraded with Ohlins during the rebuild so effectively it is - to all intents and purposes - a 2018 spec 3.5R - albeit with a well run in 2011 engine & gearbox.
During the rebuild process the full exhaust system was sent to Zircotec to be ceramic coated (inside and out) in 'Volcano black'!
The only thing that, in retrospect, I slightly regret is that I didn't decide to 'bite the bullet' and retro-fit the Sadev sequential box - at the time I vacillated as I simply couldn't make up my mind on whether, or not, to take the plunge!!
In many respects is is now a sort of 'Atom 3.5R hybrid' - with many of the components/parts gathered from the best of several Atom iterations/generations!

Back on topic
Anyone know if the factory have started customer cars yet?
When i was there 2.5 weeks ago the last grey framed factory test car was not far from completion. I hope it would be complete by now.

It’s oh so quiet......
No more building going on? Or more info?

Re: Atom 4
They have started ordering in the chassis for customer cars but no customer builds yet. Hopefully starting very soon.

Re: Atom 4
Are there any pics of the optional forged wheels?
And does anyone know if the sequential will be as brutal as the 3.5r’s?

Not seen any pictures of the forged wheel, and i was told they were some way off.speedmachine wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 10:22 am Are there any pics of the optional forged wheels?

I don't think anyone can answer your other question before it is out of development and ready for customer road tests.
Sorry

Re: Atom 4
If you ask Tom nicely he might send over renderings of the forge wheels. Not due until end of the year but with the ways things are going I would suggest available next year.speedmachine wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 10:22 am Are there any pics of the optional forged wheels?

Sequential hasn't even gone into testing as far as i know yet so a way off until we hear if it is any good

Re: Atom 4
no word yet on what brand they are gonna use for the sequential? Quaife offers a 10k solution for the type R, am I thinking to easy when I think this is roughly plug and play, as it's the same engine?
Re: Atom 4
Speedmachine:
Quaife for that engine is the one that is going into test, it is just not ready to be tested yet.
This gearbox is unknown to Ariel so they do not know how well it will perform. With the sadev on the other hand they seem to love as it is being used in tough conditions like rallycross racing and circuit racing etc. Although very expensive, in my view the cost does not make sense for a fun track day toy that in large will not be competively raced. The sadev does require rebuilds just like any racing engine and gearbox, but they foud they did not have to do this with the sadev.
So time will tell. I want both these things; forged alloys and seq.
