Re: Atom 3.5 tyres

Ok after 2 sets of kumho mediums on the rears and 4 track days i can recommend these - they are just as grippy as the old R888 SGs, better than the old A048s and consistent right to the end - the R888 would dramatically lose grip once the tread had gone. Yet to try the kumho K21s on the front but or...

Re: Atoms for sale - information thread

Thanks for info. Car prices are crazy right now - but a experience day car in the hands of those who go mental in a rental at top dollar is one to be avoided and would be difficult to sell on. There are a few bad ones out there hiding an iffy history. The factory is an idea source of info to pick ou...

Re: Atoms for sale - information thread

Its a fickle market with only 100+ atoms produced by the factory per year. The two/three year waiting list is only 300+ people world wide excl North America. I hoping the flippers have gone onto the next great thing, and we can get on with driving our machines. My last did 22k plus hard trackday mil...

Re: Atoms for sale - information thread

Looking back, I saw this car for sale when I was looking for a atom cup car in 2018 at PESCARA INTERNATIONAL

Re: Atoms for sale - information thread

No - these cars are very sensitive to oil changes and proper servicing. Several cup cars I saw, had an unloved life with potential repair bills running to £5-7k to bring it back upto standard. Also watch for time travel (seemingly registered new 2-3 years after production) and accident damage on fra...

Re: Atom 3.5 tyres

Thanks for the comparison between A048s and kumhos - very useful.

I'll probably try soft kumhos in the first instance - yes I know they wear out within 1 trackday, but so did the 888s soft - if I was on it all the time.

I may try the Avon slicks but that brings its own problems!

Re: Atom 3.5 tyres

6000 out of a set! Wow!!

In 4135 miles we have been through the originals plus 7 pairs of rears and 3 pairs of fronts.

The rears last about 3 trackdays.

Yes the A048s are sensitive to heat cycles and r888(r) medium are alot less grippy than A048 mediums.

Re: Atom 3.5 tyres

Never completely got on with A048s med compared to the 888 SGs.

The A052s and kumhos are a possibility or may have to go Avon slicks and have a separate set for public road.

Atom 3.5 tyres

My supply of toyo 888 SGs (soft) has now dried up.

Any better alternatives from the powers at be?

Many thanks

*atom 3.5 used mainly on track with occasional road use. All in the dry - UK weather permitting!!!

Re: Nomad feature Top gear 28/3/21 20.00 bbc 1

Glad see the Nomad holding its own with the new defender and G wagon. As good, honest and expensive (once optioned with useful stuff) as the defender is, I'm personally not so sure about JLR reliability having been left stranded a few times with its poltergeist radio and intermittent parking sensors...

Re: Atoms for sale - information thread

People put too much emphasis on factory services. I've seen some cars that are dogs that have a lot of history but for a lot of people, especially jn the North, transporting to the factory and back every year isn't feasible so they get them serviced locally or even do it themselves. I know owners t...

Re: Atoms for sale - information thread

They are specialists outside the factory - there is at least CPL Racing, which i used for 10ish years. Guy and Lynn of CPL racing are excellent and have also got an eye for the detail and a good relationship with the factory. There is also back draft motorsport - which have a good rep though I've ne...
