Re: Lists of insurances that will cover the Atom

In Hawaii, I was able to insure my 2006 with Progressive, or with Grundy if it meets their criteria.

Registered on Maui as a 1957 Lotus

Long story kinda short: I bought a 2006 Atom Ecotec and it arrived here on Maui last September. After 6 glorious months of "working with" DMV, I was able to get the County attorney's office to tell DMV that the AA2 qualifies under Hawaii law as a Special Interest Vehicle, which has to rese...

Brammo Certificate of Origin

I'm beginning the adventure of trying to register my 2006 Brammo Atom in Hawaii. I see that some have failed around 2008 on Oahu, and I'm trying to cover as many issues as I can before I officially apply. It's possible that Maui DMV will be different from Oahu, and the requirements, exceptions, and ...

Re: Brammo Atom Brake Pad Part Numbers

Thanks FrankRizzo. Wilwood's description of the Polymatrix A pads sounds good. I'll call them and hopefully they'll know which part numbers to order.

Re: US Atom: Roll Call - Who's Active?

I recently bought a 2006 USA Brammo Ecotec Atom 2. This forum has been very helpful and I hope it will continue to build on the wisdom and experience that can be found in ArielAtomChat.com. Thank you to all!!

Brammo Atom Brake Pad Part Numbers

My new to me Atom is a 2006 USA Brammo Atom 2 Ecotec with 2700 miles on the original brakes. I do street driving only, and pretty aggressively, once I reach the mountain roads. I need a ridiculous amount of pedal pressure to slow down. And there's no way I can even come close to locking them up. Yes...

Supercharger intercooler hoses kinked

While working on the suspension on my 2006 USA Brammo Atom 2, I noticed that the supercharger coolant hoses connecting the hard pipes to the horizontal intercooler or aftercharger were bent and kinked. See last photo. I don't know how much, if any, coolant was getting through. Brammo used a straight...

Re: USA Atom 2 Replacement Ball Joints

I installed the second Howe Racing ball joint, and finally have freed up the steering enough to have some self-centering. Parking is a little easier too. I have to say though, the ball joint mounting loop at the end of the control arm makes it difficult to press in or out the ball joint. It is only ...

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

Final follow up and long story short: The immobilizer was okay. The starter relay was okay. The starter relay socket had a bad connection in one of the slots for the relay prongs. One of the connectors had come loose inside the fuse block and was deep on the slot. Apparently the intermittent problem...

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

After further research, please accept my apologies. I see that we are not supposed to discuss how to bypass an immobilizer in a public forum. If I can figure out how to edit my posts, I'll delete those references. Maui06. rapacz@hawaii.rr.com.

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

Also, I tried swapping the starter relay for a known good one (low beams). I’ve searched a lot for a wiring schematic, but can’t find one.

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

Sorry, my user name didn’t show up in my post above. I’m signed in and when I hit Submit it says that user is already logged in. FrankRizzo you said above “That's the "immobilizer bypass" (hot-wire plug) for your car”. You also referred to jumping the two red/white wires and the two white ...

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

I’m having starting problems with my06 Brammo Ecotec. Fob is hung under dash. Immobilizer lights operating properly. No battery cutoff switch. Fresh battery on tender. With ignition switch on I always get fuel pump on, but start button intermittently started doing nothing. Was occasional, now won’t ...

Re: USA Atom 2 Replacement Ball Joints

Update. The Howe Racing ball joints fit and the stud/ball move freely, without play, as delivered. I installed one and test drove. Steering is binding less and there’s some self-centering now. Hopefully more when I replace the other one. I may still have to track down other points that are binding. ...

Re: USA Atom 2 Replacement Ball Joints

Update: I have bought from TMI what appears to be a replacement ball joint. They were very helpful with photos and dimensions, and I'll compare when it arrives here on Maui. TMI said it had a NAPA part number, so I ordered that part from NAPA, but it is not the same ball joint. Meanwhile, I found at...
