Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Keep the research coming Karl!😀
It is all interesting. So can you set “ Routes” as the default?
And can it all be done via the TT app on my iPhone and just “ send to device” ?

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Had a bit more of a play. It has some nice refinements over my last Rider V1? but am disappointed that if you do not put in a destination it does not display the time or really that much information at all. The time did appear when I was at a junction but otherwise seems a huge waste of real estate ...

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Yes my unit can still rotate to vertical or horizontal or vice versa as things stand. Will continue to play around. And see how it is to use in car. Can see it can record your route which is a cool feature. I often just go and explore and can never quite remember which roads I used or took even afte...

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Have had a play. Picture was crap as it was in "2D" mode. Now back in "3D" mode as I was used to previously! Much more like it! Will try the toggle thing for the side bar but seems to take up almost 1/4 of the screen as is. Was meant to be fitted with the "security bracket&q...

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Thanks for all the replies & advice. Bought the Premium 550 from said website. Had it installed by Steve & co at the factory during it’s annual service there yesterday. Only time will tell if this unit is supported by Tom Tom over the next few years. Screen is good. Seem to find the older ve...

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Thanks again. Should really be included in the box by Tom Tom to begin with, although this is a 3rd party one, and I note in the reviews that many of the motorbikers could not read their Tom Tom nav screens due to glare in bright sun! Beggars belief really.Everything is so "form over function&q...

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Thanks GraemeW. Intrigued that the old design Rider (and that waterproof mount) has that nice "peaked" shaded cover to it to prevent glare and also keep the worst of the rain water off the screen. The screen is also very recessed so mostly safe from knocks and scratches (I just bung mine i...

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Thanks Fastlane. £284.50 at present. A very good price. Reviews for the unit are a bit hit and miss. Dodgy mount connections etc. I have no complaints to try to use my smartphone with a suitable mount however BUT worried about the practical constraints about using one with gloves and helmet etc . Wo...

Re: Sat Nav. Upgrade?

Thank a.b. Very informative. Yes, I noticed my clock is stuck at 00.00 even though I have it set to “auto time sync” or set the time manually. Now it makes sense as only started playing up in last 4 weeks or so. Decided to try to update it after I posted my question yesterday, and the unit is no long...

Sat Nav. Upgrade?

2013 Atom and purchased with the Tom Tom Rider from the factory. Has served me well for what is mostly a road Atom. Now the unit has become a bit glitchy and I miss things like Real Time Traffic Info etc which is a useful feature to have. So the question is, is it better to upgrade to the latest Tom...

Re: Fuel tank and consumption

Ok. This is THE most annoying thing I find about the car (5 years, approaching 20k miles of ownership) 3.5 (not the R) 245bhp. I have also had to confirm with the factory more than once, like at a service, “Is it definitely 40 litres?”. As others have noted, anything under 15-20 litres and even on a ...

Re: Whats's your annual Atom / Nomad millage?

Just passed the 4 year mark and just passed the 14,000 mile mark so that works out at a pretty regular 3,500 miles/year. In South Wales, so pretty much all the mileage done on the road. Very few cars give you that hit of connection, adrenaline and a bit of fear when driving it. Especially compared to...

Re: Atom Insurance with Footman James

Further update: Lloyd & Whyte called back and said their "quotes were much higher than my renewal, and would not be able to compete", so asked me to try them again next year! Adrian Flux, sent me through a quote for £500. Not including track days (after telling me they could not get an...

Re: Atom Insurance with Footman James

Will update this reply later as still waiting on a couple of call backs, but been doing the "annual insurance trawl around" this morning on the phone. Now completing my 4th year of Atom ownership from new, 2013 Model 3.5 245bhp, 44 y.o, Garaged,No claims, convictions etc, 4000 miles. Cardif...
