I have a 2 300, the only issue I have found is the rear wheel bearings do go after a while depending on how you drive. The issue is fixed on the Atom 3, but it can be retrofitted to the Atom 2 (its not cheap tho).
If you like the windscreen thats Atom 3 only as well. Otherwise its all slight improvements. The Atom 3 is a little bit better in many respects, but its all small improvements and nothing to worry about.
For me the small improvements were not worth the significant extra cost of a Atom3. But its all down to personal choice in the end.
The really important choices are n/a or s/c, brakes, & suspension. My suggestion is s/c for the noise if not extra grunt, big front brakes (or all round), and adjustable suspension so you can have more comfort when you want it without sacrifice for the occasional track outing.
