Suzuki Alto C.
Got it for a pack of cigarettes and had to replace the cylinder head gasket and add some new tyres.
Drove it for 2 years and I really enjoyed it  :)

Yes, low power, very low power ... to check a 0-100km/h you have to use a calendar instead a stopwatch!  ;D
But very funny ... first of all because I was only eighteen!  >:D

My first car was a mk1 red Fiat Panda 30S.  :wize:

Ha Ha. Brilliant! Light weight, low powered fun. Pretty similar to my 850cc mini. Good times! :tu:

I think the most scared I have even been in a car was being driven around by an in-experienced (but enthusiastic) teenage boy racer in a 1000cc mk1 panda back in the day.  :o

Beige Mk1 Astra 1.2S. Wing almost see-through due to rust but it was big enough to take a 15 inch sub in the boot which was all I cared about! Lol. It dies not long after...

I do remember pulling into a tiny cul-de-sac in my mum's Citroen AX in the snow and handbraking it for a full 270, narrowly avoiding all the other cars currently sat there also. Given the cuk-de-sac was only about 4 cars wide with cars parked on both sides, that was quite a good effort I thought...

Some great stories here! Unfortunately my 1st car was not vey interesting. However I do have fond memories of jumping a bridge on the way home from work most days in the works astramax van. The thing was a dog, one that IMO (at the time) needed to be put down!  ??? I do hope the lads I employ do not treat my vans in the same way... (checks trackers to see average speed down notorious road).

  A 1960 MGA Twin-Cam Coupe (606AXF) in BRG

- bought it for £600 from Gold Leaf Motors in the East end of London 2 days after I passed my driving test in 1965 - with the help of a small legacy from a recently deceased relative!

The twin-cam engine usually stayed in tune for about 2 weeks - but was transformed after I fully rebuilt the car (wings and doors were completely rotten!) during 1968/69 while I was at CSE Oxford - during which process I fitted an early version of Lucas's electronic ignition which finally sorted out the twin-cam engine's notorious tuning problems.

My girlfriend (now my wife) and I - over the next 10 years or so - drove on it holiday to Germany, Greece, France, Italy, Spain and annually, for 7 successive years each winter, to Holzgau in Austria to go skiing!

We finally sadly waved goodbye to it in 1979 as it was no longer financially practical to maintain with my family size increasing.

About 8 years ago I attempted to trace this MGA with the idea of possibly re-purchasing and restoring it - but discovered that it was no longer on the DVLA registration database so, despite my best efforts, unfortunately I was unable to trace it.

It was a Vauxhall chevette cheep to insure
Lasted about 8 months reversed in a phone box
Then a fiesta lasted about 4 months
In the Dukes of hazard you could jump over bridges at 70mph and and carry on driving.  :o
Apparently not  ::)

Yep  Engine mounts and brakes, to this day I swear I could still change a pair of brakes blindfolded and don't mention wheel bearings...

I liked Mini's, learnt a lot about understeer and crappy brakes though  :P

I remember having a mini , and telling my mates to lean as we went around the one way system in Watford on two wheels

Good work to get one up on 2 wheels! :tu:

I managed to jump mine over a hump backed bridge once. Most amusing! :D

Classic 850cc mini in white. 33BHP of pure fun! :)

It was bought for £500 as an MOT failure due to the usual rear subframe rot. I rebuilt the rear suspension on a new subframe and got it back on the road.

Was lovely fun till it was stolen and written off. :(
