That's an Oxymoron.........there's no such thing as a useless bar Bruce!!!!

It's useless when you put your drink down on it and the glass slides off onto the floor...

It's horrible.

But it's not SS's influence, it's her own style.

This is what she did for us at Home House:

It's the most useless bar you can imagine.

But you can see where she got the idea for the hideous boat from.

Perhaps it's a badly designed one :roflp:

These organic structures have been seen in design for quite a while now - from running shoes to cycle helmets to yachts. They are an echo of natural forms, often seen under the microscope. I keep seeing chewing gum when I look at that boat.  ;)

Having said that, what might an Atom look like if the thickness of the tubing varied so dramatically and all the straight tubes were curved and swoopy? So there wasn't a straight edge to be seen? Is that the next evolution for the Atom frame?

Saint Simon Saunders' Benificence Spreading to Yacht Design

The Circle Yacht makers, I think, have talked to Saint Simon Saunders (of blessed memory), for their yachts show a strong exoskeletal design.

http://www.daily-art.com/unique-circle-yachts-zaha-hadid-blohmvoss/

From the website:  "
Zaha Hadid managed to create a vessel that altered the conventional look of yachts resulting in a novel futuristic, sci-fi looking design. With an interwoven network of supports that create resemblances of an exoskeleton, the ship gains an organic aesthetic. The Unique Circle Yachts are inspired by the underwater ecosystems, with the exoskeleton varying in density and thickness, reminding of the natural growth patterns. The boat also features a fluid and dynamic look being a “dynamic object that moves in dynamic environments” the exterior mesh connecting the various levels and decks almost seamlessly with expressive diagonals.
"

It's VERY DIFFERENT from traditional ships, just like the Atom differs from traditional cars.

What do you think?
