I really fancy getting one of these. Is there any real inherent advantage in the 4 post vs the 2 post?
Any thoughts?
A

4 post is with ramps, so quicker and easier, but takes a lót more space!
Have a look at the twin busch 1 post lift. Just fitted mine its brilliant. I was concerned about the bar that connects the outer legs. Thought it would get in the way but masses of room. If i went for a 2post lift i could only get 2 cars in but with the 1 poster i can get 3 in[emoji106]

Do you have any pics with the car elevated?

Do you have a pic of where you place the stands with the 1 post? I thought it had not enough reach to go from engine chassis bar to front wheel
Dont have my 4 yet! There are 2 bars that u buy to link the pads to allow the lift to work. They are listed below the lifts on their web site

Since I will only be lifting half ton atom, 6 inch slab thickness should be ok? Or do I need to reinforce?
The single post lifts are inherently stable due to the design of them. They do a mobile version and a fixed version. The mobile one is wheeled around using a pallet trolley and not secured at all. Ur 6/7 inches will be more than adequate esp when lifting a fifth of its limit[emoji106]

The 4 post lift allows you to store cars underneath it, quite useful if you are in short supply of garages and have more than 1 car.

The 2 post allow you to work on the car, i.e. take the wheels off and work on the brakes without a jack, unlike the 4 post lift. But, the 2 post is designed not to suspend your car for long periods, it's not mean't to take the weight of a car overnight for example unlike a 4 post lift.

So they both serve 2 different purposes in my view.

I quite fancy one of these. Do you need to dig up the garage floor to ensure it’s strong enough or would my garage floor be ok as is.

Thanks
Andrew

but haven't done anything until now. With lockdown and more time the garage is getting a more thorough clean out and reorganisation, so looking to get one of these to make more space.

Anyone purchased one of these recently they can recommend, or any new insights? I'm currently looking at the model Chris recommended above from Twinbusch
You mean the 242G which fits a normal garage due to 233cm hight instead of 282cm?

This one I’m ordering shortly, be aware you need longer arms in order to lift like chris’s does, arms are too short standard...(shorter compared to the high lifts)
I was quoted 243 euro’s excl VAT for a single set of 139cm arms. Still a good deal though.
Locally I hear nothing but good reactions about this brand

Cjg62 wrote: Thu Nov 08, 2018 12:06 am I bought the A242 from https://twinbusch.co.uk £1200 inc VAT and collected from Kettering on a car trailer.

Luckily my garage is 3m high although I had to modify the width to make it fit. I believe they now sell a narrower version.

Rear pads locate on the engine bay tube joint and I use a couple of plywood spreaders under the front wishbones. I would like to think the Nomad would have similar points.

The car lives on the lift when not in use leaving a good working area below.

Chris

Could you tell me what arm length you have and how they are?
I’m buying the new 242G this one is lower for normal garages. But comes with slighly shorter arms, so I need a set of longer arms (max 139cm) for one side

Legal I think, but not very safe ..

As Karl said, petrol fumes can pool in the bottom and ignite, if there's a fire in there or under the car when you're down there, there's not really any means of escape.
