I once sold an Integra on PH and a guy called up and asked me if there were any marks on the car, after I explained it was 8 years old and had the odd thing here or there he asked;

'Is the cam cover still bright red, or is it chipped?

That one also sold via a forum, in fact, since then all the cars have!

sold my family car on ph last year

was surprised at how low the initial offers were from the outset

immediately asking what your bottom line was  and trying to haggle over the phone

seems a bit pointless without even seeing it............

Yes, the Police said both you and Tom were ok  ;D

As in there was no evidence that indicated a Nomad was used to drag the car from your driveway or that a atom with a shifty looking windscreen was involved either.

I did mention an Atom with a windscreen to them, but they didn't believe me  :roflp:

I had the same with them a few years ago, they really are a bunch of sharks.
Most of the time, the people who go there really need to sell, so take it up the chuffer.
The people before me went in with a tidy enough Focus that they had been quoted at £4k for but in the end were offered £1,800.
Unless your car has a fault you want to hide, don't bother.

Cheers,
Stu

Just all hassle and after reading Reg's story this morning I'm feeling less inclined to market it.

Sad about Reg's attempted thief of this M3 but well aware of that type of thing  when selling a car .no 1 -have car open before they arrive,so no signal from the remote can be picked up .no 2  don't let them hold the key or fob because they can ,what we call in the trade "sniff the key". And finally it wasn't me Reg I would of opened your house up first and found the key on the kitchen table?

Yeah I tried them once to sell a van. So rude and as you say knock money off for every little mark. I walked as well. I then took the same van back 6 months later after it developed an Ecu fault which should have written it off. Disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds allowed you to drive about 10 miles before it would die. I stood there and took the abuse secretly laughing inside. Oh yes one for the good guys

Best of luck with the sale Andrew. I am putting off selling a car myself at the moment. Just all hassle and after reading Reg's story this morning I'm feeling less inclined to market it.
