We did Seattle to SF with a stop at Brammo last Summer (well, we started in Vegas, but let the plane take the strain for the first bit).

Apart from the sea mist, it's a lovely drive. I'd suggest doing roads slightly inland unless you're sure of the weather...

I have been told that the coast of California is one of the most beautiful drives in the world.  We are going to drive down it, then come across the country and try to catch some great scenery.

My wife and I did the Pacific Coast Highway from Seattle to San Diego last year (with a stop at Brammo, that turned out pretty good, btw). The coast highway is very entertaining from the scenic beauty of the coastline and redwood forrest to the scenes and attractions of So Cal. Try to be in Orange County early on a Saturday morning to catch the Daylight Derilicts car gathering in Huntington beach (at 5:30 am) and the weekly car show at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach. They will love the Atom and you'll see lots of other great cars too.

It will be a great adventure!

Bolus, is the cup holder for cruising around town or do you not wear a helmet for "normal driving" ? I understand from previous posts that a helmet is pretty much a necessity for comfort- except at in town speeds. Or, I guess you could use it with a really long straw ( a racing straw) LOL. :D

I have aviator goggles for in town and a helmet for highway speeds.  I'm short so the bubbles actually protect a lot from the wind anyway.

Gage, I see where you're going to drive back from OR to TN in Feb?? Or are you going to wait until wx moderates a little. My Atom is supposed to be done in mid April. I never even entertained the possibility of driving it back to GA. But, I have to admit, it does sound a little crazy in a good kind of way.

It is really up in the air rf.  I personally believe that Brammo will push the date farther out.  A little warmer weather wouldn't hurt.  If it meant a Caravan with another Atom owner, we would wait a bit to get our car.    I have been told that the coast of California is one of the most beautiful drives in the world.  We are going to drive down it, then come across the country and try to catch some great scenery.  But, our trip will not be a tour of the country.  We are going to make good time getting back.

We'll talk about it more in a few months I'm sure.  :)

I would love to see an atom Driver drinking something while cruising at 80 or 90.  ;D

rfmartz: For a while I had a G-meter mounted in the center of the dash area, pretty much on the car centerline.

I talked to Joe Wismann today about the catalytic converter issue.  Because of MAF issues, they need to run the Ecotecs at a slightly rich mixture, and the unburned hydrocarbons are clogging the cat after about 2000 to 3000 miles.  They're figuring things out with GM as we speak, and have a full battery of tests scheduled for early January at the GM proving grounds.  This issue, as far as they know, does not affect Honda Atoms.

Sweet, I love sensable facts, thank you.
