I decided not to make it an RC car since the parts are going to be pretty fragile when done.  just going for  a model.  I was hoping to make the steering wheel work

y not do a servo driven steering rack
you can pick up a cheap digital proportional steering rc car and tear it appart
or you can order specific parts, if you are looking for making the entire thing rc

if not, you can pick up a very cheap mechanical skeleton watch (by a vender such as IK Couloring) and break it appart
then use the many gears in it

Buy a watch, and tear into it.

I second that or even an old wind-up alarm clock as the gears can be small in diameter but wider across the load bearing surface of the tooth. This will be important when meshing with the rack. Too thin and it will eventually act as a saw blade. You might also look at some of the gearing from electric slot cars.

Bolus, I'm already blown away by what you've achieved so far.

Now if you can just make a teeny-weeny supercharger, then I really will be impressed  :pop:

This would seem to be the only option open to you.

Make sure you point it the right way....  ;D

I'm going to try and may a rack and pinion setup for the steering.  There are pinion gears for RC cars but they are still too big.  I'm looking for something in the 1-2mm range.

Nice choice on the gold.

"Anyone know where I can find tiny pinion gears?"

In a tiny differential? ;)

I finished the frame with all the mount points for suspension and body panels.  I went with gold a la the 500

Anyone know where I can find tiny pinion gears?

HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW can you make something so perfect.  You're suspension mounts look soooooooooooo goooooooooood....are you using surgeon magnifying type glasses to work with pieces that small?
