No, but it's nasty. If it's too cold, even the radiational cooling will pull the heat out of the radiator. I learned that really well with shifter karts a few years back- as you have to let them warm up to proper temps before race start. It's difficult when temps are below~50 or so. Maybe doing what driver suggested would be the best solution for a trial.

get some cardboard and block all airflow around the radiator, throw a tarp over the back half of the engine area. That fan HAS to come on eventually if it's functional and wired correctly.

As I've read, I think the temp must go up to ~200 before the thermostat turns the fan on- it's that cold GA weather!
Yep!  We got some snow the other day.  Did you get any down there?

last time I tried it read about 185 after idling about 10 minutes

What does the temp read?

I've tried idling for a while and it hasn't come on yet.

Again, if you want to see it turn on, just drive it until it warms up then let it sit and idle for a few minutes.

I have yet to see the fan turn on by itself.  I think when you're moving air naturall flows through it already.
We'll see when i take it on the track.

I definitely saw temps over 200 degrees at AtomFest but I think the upgraded fan is an excess. I think that on the track, the temps won't decrease with an additional fan and when stuck in traffic, the current fan (at least at our GA temps) is adequate. It might not have been at 120 degree AZ temps!

The previous owner just told me he upgraded the fan.  Supposedly the fan will kick on
when it reaches temp.  I guess the switch would be good for track days.

There's no way you'll get the temp up to 200 on the street especially at 56 degrees. Just let it sit and idle first.

So you're saying the switch turns on the fan on the verticle radiator (the aluminum one) - the true radiator, correct?

The fan on the horizontal radiator (the smaller black one, which is the aftercooler for the supercharger) is wired off of the pump.  The pump kicks on, and that fan kicks on.
Yes the switch is for the vertical radiator.  I'm taking it for a drive now... see if I can bring the temp beyond 200 ;D
It's 56F today.

Pump is on the frame, just in front of the engine down low. Its a small, black cyndrical pump, with two hoses running to it.
I see it now.  that one connects to the horizontal radiator with smaller tubing.  I flipped the switch and the fan is on.
I don't think the pump is.  No vibration.
